Boardwalks - There's a 600m flat board walk to get to the 360 observatory. Additionally, there is a loop further into the reserve off of the main boardwalk allowing a closer encounter with nature. (Loop with additional 300m of boardwalk to be open from 2023)

Accessibility

All of the areas of the DWC are fully accessible with an electric wheelchair lift up to the Galeri space.

The extra-wide boardwalk is installed with disability in mind. It is flat and wheel chair/buggy accessible. There is also an electric wheelchair lift at the 360 Observatory to access the viewing tower on the third floor.

In the DWC itself there are two ambulant toilets, a disabled toilet and a larger Changing Places toilet with a baby-changing table and changing facilities for people with additional needs. If you don't have one, ask for a Radar Key at Reception. All facilities are free of charge.

Cost & Planning Your Visit

Spring/Summer Season - March - September £7 per adult and £3.50 per child. Free for Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust members.

Autumn/Winter Season - October - December £4 per adult and £2 per child. Free for Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust members.

Travelling by train: The recommended station is Machynlleth and then either a bus (see above), your own bicycle or taxi from Machynlleth to the reserve. There is no access from Dyfi Junction station.

Please allow between 1-2 hours for your visit. Unfortunately, no dogs are allowed anywhere in the DWC or on the reserve except assistance dogs.

No Smoking anywhere on the reserve.

Dogs

Dog

Sorry, we do not allow dogs, except assistance dogs, onto Cors Dyfi Reserve. Please see here for the legal definition of 'assistance dogs'.

In order to minimise disturbance to the wildlife we do not allow dogs, except assistance dogs, anywhere on the nature reserve. Visitors with dogs are welcome to walk them in the car park and sit on the picnic chairs and tables there.

Please check the weather forcasts if you are planning to visit with a dog and be aware that there is little shade on the car park, especially in the middle of the day.

If you have a Tesla, please use 'Dog Mode' in the software.

We do not advise you to leave your dog in the car. Dogs remain the responsibility of the owners at all times.

For clarity, here are some of the reasons why we don't allow dogs on the reserve:

1. Cors Dyfi is a lowland raised peat bog. This is a rare habitat in the UK these days, not suitable for pets.

2. All dogs scent mark, particularly males. This affects the territorial behaviour of other mammals we have on the reserve - species such as otters, beavers and badgers.

3. The boardwalk is teeming with reptiles and amphibians - lizards, frogs and toads. All these are BAP species requiring conservation action plans.

4. Several ground nesting birds breed on Cors Dyfi - including some of the migratory warbler species. Again, not suitable for dogs.

5. Prior to 2014 we spent years cleaning up people's mess. Usually poo bags thrown into trees. We want to run an osprey project and visitor centre - not pick up faeces.

6. We've had at least two incidents of visitors being bitten by a dog on the reserve.

7. Not withstanding all the above, we have no way of assessing which animals are, or are not, "well behaved dogs".

We are not against dogs - most of us have at least one. We kindly ask that you consider that Cors Dyfi is not a park, it's a nature reserve with specialised habitats containing a peat bog ecosystem. It really isn't suitable for pets.

Recently we invested in paved areas and picnic tables at the front of the Dyfi Wildlife Centre specifically for people with pets - visitors are welcome to bring their dogs to this area.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Charging points

In early 2022 we installed 15 EV Chargers. These are Fast chargers that can charge your car at up to 22kWh, depending on your car's specification.

The whole system has a load management system, meaning that if several cars are all charging at once, the first few cars will receive the full 22kWh but as more cars hook up, the charge rate will decrease slightly.

All our chargers are exactly the same model made by Easee. Please hook up and pay at Reception once you're done. No need to book a slot, no app needed.

Only available during opening times: 10am - 5pm - daily,  then Wednesday to Sundays 11th September to 21st December 2023.

The current rate is 50p per KWh including VAT.
