Planning Your Visit - Frequently Asked Questions

We have had to make a lot of changes to how you visit us during the Covid-19 pandemic. Here are the questions our visitors regularly ask. Please help us to keep everyone safe during their time at the nature reserve.


Do I have to book to come in?

No. From August the 7th you no longer need to pre-book your visit.

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes. It remains mandatory in Wales to wear a face covering in indoor spaces. You can remove them on the boardwalk and when you are seated at the Caffi.

I am exempt from wearing a mask do I have to wear one?

If you are exempt from wearing a mask please make this clear to a member of staff upon arrival. This makes it much easier for our staff and volunteers to keep everyone safe.

What are the prices?

Prices are:

  • Adult Entry - £3.00 
  • Child aged 5 to 15 - £2.00 
  • Free - Under 5s
  • Free - MWT Members (please show your membership card)
  • £20 Season Ticket 2021 (available on the day - please show your season ticket during subsequent visits)

What time are you open?

The reserve is open Wednesday - Sunday, 9am to 4pm until Christmas. We are closed Mondays and Tuesdays for volunteer work parties and reserve mainten


Will the Dyfi Wildlife Centre be open?

All public areas of the DWC are open. This includes the Osprey Room, Caffi, toilets and partial access to the Galeri and the balcony.


Will the café be open?

Yes, for visitors. Our brand new Caffi Tŷ Maenan will be open serving hot and cold drinks, homemade cake and light lunches.

The Caffi will be open 9am - 3.30pm. Food is served until 3pm.


Will the gift shop be open?

Yes, the gift shop will be open. Please pay by contactless when possible and please only touch what you intend to buy.


Will the Ceri Hide be open?



Will the toilets be open?

Yes, toilets will be available on your visit, they are located inside the Dyfi Wildlife Centre.


Will the 360 Observatory be open?

Yes, the Observatory will be open every day until 3.30pm.


Can I make a group booking for later in the year?



Do you have binoculars/telescopes?

To minimise the risk of Covid contact spread we will not be having the telescopes out this summer - please bring your own binoculars.


Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are not allowed in the centre or on the reserve with the exception of Assistance dogs.


Can I pay in advance?

No, please pay on arrival.



We are fully accessible, and the lift down at the observatory is fully functional.


Have you done a Risk Assessment?

Yes. As per government guidelines a full risk assessment and subsequent staff training has been completed. We have also completed the ‘Good to Go’ mark.


Will I be required to bring my own hand sanitiser?

No. We have arranged for additional hand sanitising points to be implemented around the site but you may bring you own if you prefer to do so


Can I come to the reserve if I have mild Covid-19 symptoms but still feel ok?

No. If you have any of the symptoms listed on the government or NHS website, or for any reason are required to isolate, please stay at home. 

Will I be informed if I have attended the Centre and you have had a confirmed or suspected case of Covid-19?

Yes. We will still ask you to complete your contact details each time you come and these details will be passed onto Track & Trace if we are asked to do so. In the unlikely event that we are informed that anyone who has attended the centre has or has recently had Covid-19, we will follow the appropriate government advice on ensuring people are made aware where necessary.
